In 1938 Ljubomir Lukic Milinkov was born to parents Milinko and Zagorka. He would be the only son in a peasant family of 8 children. He grew up in Sovac, a Serbian village in the Shumadia province, among wheat fields, orchards and among the chickens, pigs, sheep and horses that would later populate his canvases.

After his storied schooling, which took him ever further away from the modest surroundings of his humble beginnings, Ljubomir answered his attraction to Paris, France. Without official identification, knowledge of the language, family, friends or money, he finds stable housing, a job as a waiter and soon after acquires painting materials and sets up his easel near the Seine, at Saint Michel. For seven years this young man with little to no formal art training lives his dream making a living as a painter in Paris.

The allure of America captured his curiosity, so once again he set out with a modest budget and very few arrangements, for the United States. The rest is history that is preserved in the hundreds of paintings that reflect his life, the times and his fascinating perspective.
