Born in Nice in 1929, French painter Claude Hemeret spent much of his childhood outdoors in the sun. As a result, he grew fond of the southern lights and the scents that fed him and quenched his thirst. His canvases recall the lavender’s perfume, the cypresses, and the blazing Sun at noon. Hemeret specializes in still life painting;he has no self-portraits and rarely includes people in his artwork at all.
